Many of you may be wondering why you are not able to obtain the version 3.2.148 update directly from the “Check for Updates” option in Skype’s Help menu. The reason appears to be that the Skype folks want you to manually download this release. It is highly recommended that you do this right away to obtain the accessibility related fixes.
Thank you very much for this information. Are others finding this version more accessible with their screen readers. Are you using it Darrell?
Yes. I started using it yesterday morning. Though the options dialogue has been made accessible, it feels a little quirky and apparently the author of the JAWS scripts has some concerns. I also haven’t yet had a chance to test it with NVDA, System Access or Window-Eyes.
Thank you. Keep us posted on this new version when you can.
I updated from Skype 3.1.something to 3.2.0.148 using the check for updates on the skype help menu with no problems. The update downloaded and when I closed skype an install dialog was presented and all seems to have gone well here.
